Real food, good people.*

Thoughtfully Raised.
Carefully Curated.
Local Protein & Produce.

Buttonwood Farm produces and distributes high-quality, thoughtfully and sustainably raised, real, local foods to good people, like chefs, CSAs and grocers.

Our proteins are raised on living, breathing Missouri pastures. Same thing with our fresh veggies, fruit, and staples—they’re local.

We care about the products we offer and the good people and land that make it all possible, and we invite you to follow our journey.

And if you’re a chef or purveyor, feel free to reach out about our weekly product list and deliveries!

How it all started

Way back in 2010 in sunny California, Missouri…

Nearly 15 years ago, smack-dab in the middle of the state, Matt and Eleanor Tiefenbrun started Buttonwood Farm with chickens, turkeys, a couple beaglemutts, and a big, wild dream to grow real food and feed the good people of St. Louis from real, living, breathing pasture…

Our Products

Just delicious, thoughtfully raised real food, good people:

We’re proud to raise poultry and eggs on real Missouri pasture. As always, our birds are free to roam and forage!

We also now work with other local farmers who raise exceptionally high-quality produce, dairy, nuts and grains, and a variety of other proteins.

And our distribution is growing—we’re now delivering to St. Louis, Kansas City, Mid-Missouri, and Springfield.

Proteins + Dairy

  • Our first endeavor, and still our bread and butter, chicken, turkey, and eggs on real, living, breathing pasture.

  • We now offer beef, pork, lamb, and more. Local and sustainably and thoughtfully raised.

  • We are now offering local pasture raised milk and cheeses. Delicious!

Fruits + Veggies

  • Fresh and local and delicious. We seek out whatever’s in season and available in our area to bring to our customers.

  • From apples to blackberries, we try to find the freshest local fruit for our customers.

Grains + Staples

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.

  • Artisan flours, wheat, rice, rye, oats, corn, popcorn, and more! Variety means our customers can be creative and source locally!

  • Honey, Molasses, Maple Syrup, Apple Butter…if we can find it locally, we make it available to our customers.
